TERMS & CONDITIONS
All itineraries offered by DIG are accurate at the time of publishing. Itineraries are occasionally updated as improvements are implemented based on feedback from previous participants, DIG’s own research or changes to offerings from service providers. If DIG is unable to utilise a particular product, service or activity outlined in the itinerary, a suitable alternative will be offered where possible. Itineraries can vary and attractions may be substituted in the event of causes including but not exclusive to seasonal conditions, weather extremes, natural disasters or political unrest. All activities listed in the itinerary are included in the price unless stated otherwise as an additional expense.
Participants appreciate and acknowledge that tours offered by DIG require considerable flexibility and that you should allow for alternatives. The itinerary provided for each tour is representative of the activities planned but it is understood that routes, schedules, itineraries, amenities and modes of transport may be subject to alteration without prior notice due to circumstances or events outside DIG’s control.
Fees and Pricing
Pricing is valid for tours commencing 1st March 2019 until 28th February 2021. Fees are quoted in Japanese Yen (JPY), are inclusive of all taxes and service charges and are correct at time of publishing. No responsibility is accepted by DIG for unforeseen omissions or misrepresentation by third parties.
Fees for optional activities are required to be paid directly to the service provider and are subject to seasonal conditions, operator availability and are not guaranteed.
In accepting a tour booking, DIG agrees that the traveller's pre-payment will be held in trust until after the tour service has been completed.
In the event of a booking alteration, such as a change of name or a change of date, DIG and its third party providers, reserve the right to charge a fee if necessary.
Conditions of Travel
DIG reserves the right to alter any route or itinerary and arrange alternative providers to those advertised if necessary. No refunds will be given under any of these circumstances or in the event of delay, curtailment or alteration of a tour resulting from causes including severe weather or mechanical failure to the tour vehicle. Components of trip itineraries are very much weather dependent and DIG cannot be held liable if tour components are not available on the scheduled day. DIG cannot guarantee the time of pick-up or drop-off and is not liable for the participant’s failure to connect with other services or any associated costs resulting from delays. DIG accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage to personal belongings or accompanying luggage.
While DIG makes every effort to safeguard its participants, DIG will not be liable for any damages, injury, or loss of any type caused by or resulting from any act or omission by its employees, agents or contractors.
Acceptance of Risk
The participant acknowledges the adventurous nature of tours offered by DIG and that participation can involve a degree of personal risk. It is the participant’s responsibility to familiarise themselves with all relevant travel information and the nature of the itinerary. The participant acknowledges that the decision to participate in a DIG tour is made in light of consideration of this information and acceptance that you are aware of the personal risks involved in such a tour.
Minimum Participant Requirement
DIG’s group tours require a minimum number of two participants to operate. In circumstances where the minimum numbers are not met an alternative may be offered. If a tour is cancelled as a result of minimum participant numbers not being met, participants will be offered an alternate tour option or be provided with a refund in full.
Travel insurance is not included in the price of the tour. DIG requires that all participants possess adequate travel insurance. Your personal insurance protection must include cover for cancellation, medical and repatriation expenses, personal accident and injury, death, loss of personal baggage and money and personal liability insurance. During the tour there may be opportunities to participate in activities, outside the advertised itinerary. These activities do not form part of your contracted tour with DIG and you should ensure that your travel insurance covers your participation in these activities.
Passport and Visas
Participants must carry a valid passport and have obtained an appropriate Japanese visa. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they are in possession of the correct Japanese visas, permits and certificates. DIG is not responsible if you are refused entry into Japan because you have not obtained the correct passport, visa or travel documentation.
Pick-up and Drop-off
All pick-up and drop-off locations and times published are an estimate only and are subject to change at short notice. Participants will be informed of any updated details prior to commencement of the tour.
Age Requirements for Group Tours
The minimum age requirement for participating in a DIG group tour is 12 years old. Families with children under the age of 12 are required to book a private or family tour option that will be tailored to the family’s specific needs and interests. Children under 18 years of age are not permitted on DIG tours unless accompanied by an adult. Young children on tour may be required to utilise booster seats or other child safety seating provided by DIG. At all times, DIG reserves the right to not accept children on tours due to the suitability of the tour and potential safety concerns.
Fitness and Participation
DIG’s tours are active and require a reasonable level of fitness. If you have any doubts about the suitability of the tour for yourself or for your travelling companions please check with DIG before booking. DIG reserves the right to assess each participant’s fitness level and suitability prior to tour departure.
Luggage and Personal Effects
Prior to the tour, DIG advises storing excess luggage at your hotel or in the train station lockers at the point of departure. Backpack or daypack usage is encouraged for easy access to cameras, clothing, snacks, etc.
Smoking and Alcohol
DIG prohibits smoking and the drinking of alcoholic beverages inside its tour vehicles. Smoking and the consumption of alcohol should be limited to designated stops where legally permitted and culturally acceptable.
DIG reserves the right not to carry a participant whose behaviour is detrimental to the enjoyment of the group. By participating in a DIG tour, you agree to accept the authority of the guide and their respective decisions. DIG staff are entitled to a safe working environment and all DIG participants to an enjoyable tour. Any threats to safety or inappropriate physical or verbal behaviour may result in the removal of the offending participant from the tour. If any staff member of DIG requires a participant to leave a tour, no refunds will be given and the participant will be responsible for their own travel costs and arrangements from that time.
DIG is committed to keeping your details private. DIG will not under any circumstances release your personal information to 3rd parties, except where there is a commercial agreement with a 3rd party to provide DIG’s services to you or where required to do so under law. All personal information is strictly maintained and protected.
