I’m a bit late in getting this news out there… but Tripadvisor has awarded the Tokyo West-Side Cycling and Food Tour one of the best biking tours in the world and top overall experiences in Japan in 2021.
Being awarded one of the best bike tours in Tokyo came as a bit of a surprise as 2021 was a very, very quiet year for me as well as many of my close mates in the tourism industry. Still, with persistent rumours circulating regarding the imminent re-opening of Japan’s borders to international tourism, I guess now’s the perfect time to drum up some much needed publicity for my cycling tours moving forward.
I’ve always tried to set an honest expectation for my rides and been completely transparent with the published tour descriptions. Opting not to visit major tourist attractions or cycle into the more tourist orientated hubs of Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa, Ueno and Akihabara. Thankfully the majority of guests who’ve tracked me down and chosen to cycle over this less explored side of town understand this and have thoroughly enjoyed their cycling experiences and immersing themselves in Tokyo's twisting backstreets and offbeat neighbourhoods.
Tourism is still going to take a while to fire-up over here but when it does feel free to consider the Tokyo West Side Cycling & Food Tour as a fitting introduction to life here in Tokyo and the neighbourhoods I call home.
